Today the Whiteman came
With a great big bulldozer
He stole something from me away
And he mowed my childhood over
It was a place I used to go...
It was a beautiful meadow.
I find hard to see today…
Why does it have to be this way?
The meadow was a piece of my life
Now it’s gone, it’s gone,
It’s gone, it’s gone
Over night…
Can’t tell you how bad I hurt
‘Cause the Whiteman only sees paydirt.
In the meadow…
The meadow was place where deer would run
And I would sit and watch the morning sun rise,
Rise in the beautiful skies.
When we first made love
It was a great big full moon above,
Susie Browne she was my first love,
We were out there in the meadow
It was the place we used to go,
All the love we’d feel we’d let it show,
In the meadow…
I find it hard to believe today
How could a man destroy this place?
The meadow was a part of so many lives
Now it’s gone, it’s gone,
It’s gone, it’s gone
Over night…
I can’t imagine anything worse,
How greedy man can become so perverse.
In the meadow…
The meadow was place where deer would run
And I would sit and watch the morning sun rise,
Rise in the beautiful skies.
