Back when the original macintosh and personal computers first started catching on, I forked out $4500 to upgrade from my IBM XT to a x486. I had 20 MB of RAM, more that anyone else I knew. I bought my first copy of Photoshop. It was version 2.5.1. I used CorelDraw! 4 back then and was thrilled when 5 came out. But the learning curves were steep on all these programs so when Bryce and 3DMax started taking hold, I realized I couldn't stay on top of everything that was coming out, no matter how much I wanted to. there just wasn't enough time in a day to play guitar, record music and learn everything that was coming out. That's about the time ProTools and Cubase VST were taking hold. I had my hands full with what I had.
Because I was a printer by trade, of course, I gravitated toward Quark, Pagemaker and Illustrator. Because I was a songwriter and a recording artist the digital recording programs really thrilled me. I was also seriously drawn to Flash 3, then Adobe After Effects and Premiere, but at that time the technology of personal computers didn't have the power for me to bring my ideas and visions to life. It wasn't until 2001 that I was finally able to get After Effects to do what I wanted it to do without bogging down my computer to a stand still. Finally, around 2004 it was became feasible to produce some of these ideas and the technology was even making it possible to render these not only at broadcast resolutions but for the web audience as well.
This page illustrates the digital applications I like to use and demonstates how I like to use them. For each software title there is a little gallery with example of how I like to use each of these amazing digital tools. It's no secret that I have always been a big fan of Adobe Software.
